We practice world-class Prophylactic Cleanings! This includes:

  • Pre-anesthetic workup, including physical examination and bloodwork, and developing a complete oral treatment plan.
  • We use a safe anesthetic protocol tailored to your pet as an individual, one gentle enough to allow your pet to recover and return home the same day of the procedure, usually within just a few hours. Dr. Weldon has a lot of experience with senior pets that have concurrent health conditions like heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, etc, because of this we use an individualized approach to each patient’s needs.
  • Complete oral examination.
  • A skilled and licensed veterinary technician uses an ultrasonic scaler and hand instruments to remove all the tartar and calculus from above and below the gum line.
  • Dental xrays are performed on each patient. Dental x-rays show the inside of the tooth and root. At Animal Dental Clinic we use digital dental x-rays, which are very efficient in determining the health of the tooth structure, bone, root tips, along with missing teeth or unerrupted teeth. Many decisions of additional oral care are based on radiograph findings.
  • Once the teeth are clean a toothpaste is used to polish the teeth smooth, making them more resistant to future tartar development.
  • A comprehensive charting and probing of all teeth is performed. Charting a patient’s mouth is the recording of abnormalities in a pet’s medical record for future reference or to design a treatment plan.
  • Treatment of any periodontal disease or fractured teeth/Forls.

If you think your pet may be in need of a dental cleaning or treatment, contact our team at Animal Dental Clinic today. We’ll ensure your pet receives the dental care they need with a loving touch!
